Paris Day 3: 10 Year Anniversary Day

A slower day that started earlier and included a few breaks at the hotel. I wish my shoes had a year's worth of wear before this trip, but they remain hardly broken in after another long day of walking. First thing, though, I asked Michael to pick up pastries from the Boulongerie to have on our balcony, then we got dressed and went for coffee.

In between our destinations, we stopped at a magazine shop and clothing boutique. Magazines are my favorite type of souvenir, a snapshot of the culture at the time we experienced it. I got a Vogue France and Vivre Cote Paris. M got a coffee mag, Draft, whose current issue happens to focus on Paris.

The walking started catching up with us and after spending the afternoon in Montmarte, we came back to the hotel for a break.

I cried on the way to dinner by the Seine. On our anniversary. It feels important to note this, even for the sake of my kids reading this someday: that harder or embarrassing moments can come more easily on bigger days. It only lasted a few minutes, and was resolved by the time we sat down at our table.

The train home, after seeing the Eiffel Tower light up at 11pm, was so crowded and hot that the humidity in the air stung my eyes. Even still, taking the train here is extra pleasant.
