Paris Day 7: Soaking in and Shopping Through our Last Few Hours

Our flight left later in the afternoon on Monday, so we filled the morning with last minute shopping for family, friends, and ourselves. We didn't buy much throughout the week, but could think of what we wished we would have gotten. My only regret is not making it back to Merci for a tote!

We stumbled upon a candy shop we made purchases at for our parents and kids. We returned to Hema to get a few toys for Silas - who I kept not buying souvenirs for because he's the baby. I realized on this last morning that he isn't a baby, and would actually appreciate receiving gifts too. I ran back to a thrift store chain I visited other locations of, and bought all the scarves I had told myself I didn't need/wouldn't wear before. Also, a perfect brown satchel purse that fit exactly the description I had been looking for the whole trip. I also wanted to get a large basket tote, but we were not confident that it would fit our current luggage situation.

We ended the morning with lunch at an egg sandwich place - which may be my favorite genre of food. It was one of the only restaurants that you order and pay at the counter, then sit outside to eat, which felt like a comfortable arrangement before having to run to the train station to make it to the airport in time.

It felt genuinely sad to be checking out of our hotel. We stayed at Hotel Paradis, which we searched weeks for. We wanted a hotel in an old building, with a balcony, a bathtub, and full single bed instead of two twins - at a location within reach of most things, and of course a price that made sense. Hotel Paradis was the welcome answer to all of these wishes, and each concierge was so generous and gracious.
