Memories for Now

Whenever we try to make a memory by imprinting a moment in our minds, is it always for our future selves? I'm finding that moments I intend to remember and recall later are rarely available to me at that later time. But as I stared at the back of Estelle's fuzzy head and cute hairline while she held her head up, I realized that the act of trying to store a moment in my memory burrows that person deeper into my heart, growing my felt love for them.

My memory of sweet moments with loved ones has proven to be terrible. But I hope that the moments that others will be able to recall later, I am letting sink into my heart for the very moment I am in right now.
