Another Way to Love with Food

One thing that I love about our community's culture is the high value we place on meals. We strive to share them and deliver them, even though both require time and planning to do so.

I've also found that there are times when you want to support a friend, but it may be on a day that your friend doesn't want to get out of bed. And while eating in bed has historically been one of my favorite pastimes, you just need to be at a table for something like lasagna or enchiladas. Cue the Trader Joe's comfort bag.

The Trader Joe's comfort bag is filled with all of the things you'd like to purchase from T.J.'s but usually exercise some restraint with. It's got sweet, savory, spreadable and always pre-cut items - think salad, fruit, baguette, cheese and treats (with at least one thing involving chocolate). I always include a bottle of a yummy beverage and top everything off with a bouquet and personalized card from the front of the store. The shopping bag is the gift bag, with the flowers springing from the top.

This has been my go to when I've had a friend suffering from an illness or loss. It can be left on a porch or passed through a cracked door, and can accompany the recipient straight back into bed, the couch, or even the bathtub.
