Paris Day 2: Wake Up and Walk

Waking up and walking straight to a steak lunch... is this a dream?

Our waitress seemed to really like us, so she made the very short list of people I asked to take a picture of the two of us.

We slept in until 11, a jetlag-newbie accident. We walked 9 miles, stopping at a new cafe every few hours.

We thanked each other for our anniversary gifts - or what we felt was gifted to us from one another. Him - that I suggested and encouraged the family trip to Guatemala. Me - that he agreed to come to Paris with me.

We talked about cultural values and fashion - specifically the more feminine fashion in Pairs.

When I asked for a toilette at a cafe, I was answered "you're pregnant! of course! it's normal here." We still got a corner sidewalk table and drinks.

The virgin cocktail drink menu at every restaurant was not lacking! And the drinks I ordered never tasted like apple juice (as some virgin cocktails in the states have).

Attempting to find the crepes I've been craving for the last 15 years!
We facetimed the boys first thing when we got to the Eiffel Tower. They were amazed - it was the cutest.

Last night I listened to Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo when I couldn't sleep. Her Clap When You Land aided my sleep on the plane as well. Both of these are a helpful intro to poetry, which I want to better appreciate and enjoy for the sake of my writing overall. The cadence of hers feels familiar to spoken word, which settles in my spirit the easiest.

My lower abdomen is only a little sore after carrying this bebe around for 9 miles. I don't know how much it really helped, but I'm grateful to have been running in preparation of this trip.

I also had a vivid dream about the kids' old school last night. Even though we are physically far from the immediate concern of caring for the kids, I am still somehow subconsciously processing this major transition for Phineas and our family.
