Small Space Living is Cute While Your Kids Are

You can replace "kids" here with almost anything.

Small space living is cute while your stuff is. Open closet storage is cute while your clothes are. Floating kitchen shelves is as cute as your dishes. Small space living is cute while your spouse is, and when your kids are. So what happens when your kids keep growing but your house doesn't?

The enjoyment of our small space has had to grow with our gratitude for a warm and welcoming corner of the city. It comes with patient, metered work on the house. It also comes with cycles of closet reorganization. It comes from living here without a timeline of one day moving on, though I have the sense that we will.

I love our small space. It's a different kind of cute than a posh apartment only recently having to accommodate a baby. It's a little roomier than that, a little less urban, and definitely more dated. Our walls are more worn and at the same time more bare.

I like to think that this house is teaching us lessons for what's ahead. It's been gentle to us in the timeline of the repairs that it has required. It came to us with a little more room than we needed at the time, and the slow invitation to fill it as we could.
